My Messy House and Updates about my Lack of Posts Lately

I've been missing for a good part of two months now and I want to tell you why. I'm pregnant!!! Yay!!! Fourteen weeks pregnant. So I pretty much spent the entire month of September sick and sleeping on my couch. I am due in May and we are ecstatic!

Also, in October I started school again. I have been in a doctoral program for a year now and this particular school year, October through June, is my make it or break it year. So most of my free time has been taken up by school work or sleep.

But I do have about four or five completed projects that I haven't yet posted. I do have the posts written and the process picks are ready. But I haven't taken finished pictures yet because between pregnancy, school work, holidays, and other miscellaneous projects my house is a bit of a cluttered mess!

So instead of a project tutorial I thought I would give you a tour of my cluttered/messy house. Also, let me say we have been keeping up with cleaning toilets, dishes, vacuuming, etc. but other than that not much has been put away!

As you walk into our house, the office is one of the first rooms you see. Notice the two foot Spiderman piñata, he's not usually there, but he's been freeloading for a couple of weeks until Jakey's birthday at the end of the month. Also, there's some toys dragged in here. And some random stuff from our closet under the stairs. This stuff will be in here until next week when my best friend and I have one of our annual garage sales.

Next, we have our living room which actually isn't too bad. The coffee table is covered with toys and there's a bunch of random Christmas décor from the closet under the stairs. The mantle was bare because I took down the Halloween décor last weekend, cleaned out that closet and just put whatever Christmas décor I had out. I didn't feel like putting the regular, non-holiday décor back out only to switch it out again in twenty days (I blame that on the pregnancy).

This is our upstairs hallway. I'm working on a project in here, so that explains the paint, tools, and lack of décor on the shelf of the linen closet.

This is the view at the end of my hallway. This was Jakey's room, but as of two weeks ago Jakey moved into his new big boy room and this will now be the baby's room. In the interim this is storage for more garage sale items and various other projects. I didn't want to photograph the whole room, because I have projects hiding in there that will hopefully appear on the blog within the next month or so. I make no promises at this time.

And here is Jakey's new big boy room. Yes, that is the lower half of an awesome tree house bed. And yes that is one of the tutorials that I have already written, but have so far failed to take finished photos of. But can you blame me with this mess!!! Actually, Jakey cleaned his room last night so I guess I don't have much of an excuse now. I have about five projects to share with you from his big boy room, so keep coming back because those will get posted before the end of the year!!! Hopefully, by verbalizing that goal I can hold myself accountable!

I also wanted to show you a spot you've never seen before in my house, my back patio. You've never seen it because it's an unfinished space. Slowly year by year I add to the patio, but not enough to consider it even close to done. Those pretty striped pillows are the newest addition to my patio space. I got them at World Market this past 4th of July and was able to score them at 50% off. But I still need to cover the furniture, put the cushions and outdoor rug away, and prepare for the rain that the weatherman claims California will get this year.

So there you have it, now you know I'm pregnant, getting a doctoral degree, and you've seen my house at it's worst! Well, maybe not at it's worst, but still pretty cluttered, especially for a neat freak such as myself. I'll keep plugging away at this clutter and hopefully soon I'll be back with lots of tutorials and awesome posts for you!
