DIY Task Lamp Revamp

I started with this task lamp that I found at Salvation Army for $4. You can't tell in the picture, but it was sort of that old dingy yellowish white. So I gave it a coat of off white rustoleum spray paint. I even painted the springs, but I painted those black.

Next, I added some wood pieces to give it a more modern look. These are craft boards, that can be found at Lowes or Home Depot. I used poplar. I just cut them to length and drill through them. Then I added a screw that I had previously painted black.

Here's a closer up of how all the pieces fit.

The lamp has a smaller range of motion with the added wood, but that's ok because I like the way it looks.

I think I might go back and add more wood to the base to make the look more cohesive.
